The History of Bestland

Named after the Best family, the surrounding area was called Bestland in earlier times.  In 1908 a one room school facility called, of course, Bestland School was initiated.  It had no water or plumbing, and water had to carried in each day from a volunteering neighbors home.  

Originally name Camlu, Phase I of our retirement community was completed in 1972,  Phase II was completed in 1988, these are now referred to as the Camlu wing and the Morris wing in honor of our original owners.

Bestland Residents appreciate the area's history of long ago.  They took a vote and decided on the name change from Camlu to Bestland.
